RIBA Stirling Prize 2011 videos
Whilst I was sleeping in Moscow, the RIBA Stirling Prize 2011 was announced last night. And the winner, and the winner and the winner is....
Evelyn Grace Academy, London by Zaha Hadid Architects
A bit of surprise winner? The building is certainly powerful and there are some exhuberant gestures but it was the joy and juicy exquisiteness of Hopkin's Velodrome, winner of RIBA's people's poll, that most people thought would win. Judge for yourself and see the other shortlisted entries here:
Olympic Velodrome London 2012 by Hopkins Architects
Other contenders:
An Gaelaras, Derry by O'Donnell and Tuomey
The Angel Building, London by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris
Folkwang Museum, Essen, Germany by David Chipperfield Architects
Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford by Bennetts Associates
